Travis Kelce
Nova has Travis Kelce 48th overall, TE6, 33.4 VORP, while the market lets him fall to pick 92. The page displays that edge as +46; straight rank-vs-ADP math says +44. Either way, it's a four-round argument, and it's the whole profile: the room is pricing the age-37 season, the retirement drama, and a 6-11 Chiefs disaster. Nova is pricing 82% of the snaps and a 20% target share in an Andy Reid offense that added no meaningful pass catchers. You're being offered a fourth-round asset at an eighth-round price.
Where He's Expected to Land
Nova's median simulation gives Kelce 172 points across 16.1 expected games, 10.72 PPR per game, on a projected 74 catches, 750.5 yards, and 3.8 touchdowns. That's a TE6 season by rank, with a likely finish range of TE7 to TE27.
The shape matters more than the midpoint. His B-grade DNA reads baseline: 48% solid weeks (10–20 points), a 42% bust rate, and only 10% boom weeks. He's a floor position at tight end, not a ceiling swing, you draft him to stop losing your TE slot, not to win weeks with it.
Bye week is 5. Nova's schedule metrics are essentially flat, early SOS 16.2, playoff SOS 16.3, so the calendar isn't an argument in either direction.
The Last Three Seasons
| Year | Team | Games | PPR pts | PPG |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | KC | 15 | 219.4 | 14.6 |
| 2024 | KC | 16 | 195.4 | 12.2 |
| 2025 | KC | 17 | 193.2 | 11.4 |
The per-game slide is real and steady: 14.6 to 12.2 to 11.4. But read 2025 carefully, his 193.2 points was a TE3 finish in total PPR scoring per SI's Zachary Gephart (July 2, 2026), while Fantasy Life's Ian Hartitz (June 19, 2026) had him at just TE10 in points per game. Both are true. Kelce played all 17 games for the first time in three years and banked attendance, not dominance: 76 catches on 108 targets (his fewest in a decade), 851 yards, 5 scores. The table also hides that Patrick Mahomes' season ended December 14, Kelce's late-season targets came from backup quarterbacking.
What Changed for Him This Offseason
He almost wasn't here. After the Chiefs closed 6-11, GM Brett Veach says Kelce came in following Week 18 and told him and Reid, in effect, "I'm not going out like this", Veach's account, reported by Pro Football Rumors in May 2026. On March 9 he signed a one-year deal worth $12 million, up to $15 million with incentives, per NFL.com, reportedly declining higher offers elsewhere.
He turns 37 on October 5. The efficiency data says the age curve is not theoretical: 6.9 yards per target over the last two seasons against a career 8.6, per FantasyPros' Pat Fitzmaurice, plus seven drops in 2025, tied for most among tight ends, three of them intercepted (Fantasy Life). This is priced into Nova's 10% boom rate. It is also, apparently, priced twice into his ADP.
What Changed Around Him
- Eric Bieniemy is back as offensive coordinator. The coordinator from Kelce's 2018–2022 peak returns, though Reid remained the primary playcaller through Bieniemy's first tenure, treat this as continuity, not reinvention.
- Mahomes is rehabbing a torn ACL and LCL from December 14, 2025. The standard nine-month timeline points at Week 1; he was throwing by late March and took seven-on-seven reps at OTAs. Nova's 16.1-game projection for Kelce assumes the passing game functions, that assumption runs through one surgically repaired knee.
- The target competition got murkier, not stronger. The Chiefs added no significant pass catchers (Fitzmaurice). Rashee Rice was released from jail June 16 after a probation violation, is rehabbing a knee injury, and could face another suspension (Fantasy Life, June 19). Xavier Worthy converted just 33% of his air yards in 2025, among the NFL's worst rates.
- Kenneth Walker III arrives as the RB1, a legitimate checkdown competitor that Nova's 20% target-share projection has to survive.
What They're Saying
Arrowhead Pride's Jared Sapp, in a June 16, 2026 minicamp mailbag, declared himself officially worried about the Chiefs' tight end depth behind Kelce, a backhanded usage signal: Kansas City has built no succession plan, so the snaps stay his. Hartitz's June 19 read was the same volume story: a healthy target load in a potential swan song season. And a July 6 training-camp preview relayed NBC Sports' assessment that Kelce is more plodding than ever at this stage, nobody is arguing he's fast, only that he'll be fed.
Nova already prices all of this: an 82% snap share and 6.4 targets a game produce the 172-point median without requiring a renaissance. The model isn't betting on vintage Kelce. It's betting on volume plus a 70% catch rate.
The Buzz
The crowd is out. SI ran him in an "aging stars to avoid" feature, RotoBaller says his dynasty value is fading, and Gephart's July 2 verdict was blunt: "Kelce is a player to avoid at his current projection in 2026 drafts", his argument being that 2025's volume was an artifact of injuries to Rice, Brown, and Worthy. Industry consensus sits at TE10; drafters push him to pick 92. When the fade is this fashionable and the model still sees TE6, the gap itself is the opportunity.
Swing Factors
- Mahomes' knee (±35 pts): a Week 1 return at full function supports the whole projection; a setback or diminished version drags every KC pass catcher toward the 64-point floor.
- Rashee Rice's availability (±25 pts): another suspension or a slow knee rehab funnels Kelce back toward 2025's 20% target share; a full Rice season is the single biggest threat to it.
- Age-37 cliff (−30 pts): 6.9 yards per target over two years says the decline is linear so far; if it goes nonlinear, no volume saves him.
- Walker checkdown tax (−10 pts): a pass-catching RB1 skims exactly the short targets that built Kelce's floor.
If Everything Goes Right
Mahomes plants and cuts like it's 2023, Rice's legal and knee situations cost him half a season, and Bieniemy funnels the red-zone offense back through the guy with 11 straight Pro Bowls. Kelce rides 110+ targets to the ceiling of the distribution, 284 points, and the farewell tour ends with a top-3 TE finish. Nova puts a tier-1 season at 24%, and a top-two-tier finish at 44%.
If Everything Goes Wrong
Mahomes' Week 1 isn't really Mahomes, Rice and Worthy stay healthy and eat, and the 37-year-old legs finally go. Kelce becomes a 4-catch, 35-yard player you can't start or cut, scraping toward the 64-point floor. The weekly bust rate is already 42%, the highest number on his page, and the honest cost of the discount.
Nova's Edge
There's no DraftKings futures line captured for Kelce yet, so the triangle is two-sided this summer: Nova versus the market, twice. Against ADP, Nova is 44 picks ahead of the room (displayed as +46 on the page, we flag the two-point discrepancy rather than smooth it). Against industry consensus, Nova says TE6 where the experts say TE10. Both gaps point the same direction: the market is charging you for the narrative, old, sad season, Taylor-Swift-retirement-watch, while the model charges you for the snaps, and the snaps haven't gone anywhere.
Note the model's honesty about what Kelce is now: a 10% boom rate is bottom-tier for a TE1 candidate. Nova isn't calling him great. It's calling him mispriced.
The Bottom Line
At pick 92 he's a bargain; Nova says the fair price is the round-4/5 turn, so anywhere from Round 6 on you're buying value. Take the discount in PPR and managed leagues where a 48% solid-week rate keeps your floor intact; fade him slightly in best ball, where the 10% boom rate does you no favors. If you draft Kelce, spend a late pick on a second TE with spike-week upside rather than trusting a 37-year-old through 17 games.
The gradeable claim: Nova prices Kelce to beat his TE10 consensus rank, and gives him better-than-even odds of clearing 160 PPR points. If he's not a top-8 tight end in January, the market was right and we'll say so.
