Where He's Expected to Land

Nova budgets Tyson for 187 PPR points, the median of a distribution that runs from a 21-point floor to a 465-point ceiling, with a likely finish range of WR13 to WR122. That is the widest kind of rookie fan: 25% of simulations end in a tier-1 season, 37% reach tier 2 or better. In plain terms, roughly one sim in four has him producing like a locked-in weekly starter as a rookie, and the median lands him in the WR3/flex zone.

His bye is Week 8. Nova lists his early SOS at 21.5 and playoff SOS at 18.7, the product hasn't yet documented which end of that scale is friendly, so treat those as raw numbers until it does.

The College Seasons (His Last Three, Plus the Lost One)

The table tells two stories at once. Story one: when he plays, he's the best receiver on the field, Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year in 2024, third-team AP All-American in both 2024 and 2025, and 1,812 receiving yards over his final two seasons. In 2025 he scored in each of ASU's first seven games before his season ended.

Story two is what ends the seasons. A knee injury closed 2022 at Colorado, the 2023 recovery year produced zero catches, a broken collarbone ended 2024, and a hamstring ended 2025. Rich Hribar of Sharp Football Analysis noted on April 24 that Tyson missed roughly a third of his available college games. That's not noise; that's the reason his ADP starts with an 8.

What Changed for Him This Offseason

Everything. New Orleans took him 8th overall in April, top-10 draft capital, a four-year, $32.5 million rookie deal, and the distinction (with his brother Jaylon of the NBA's Cavaliers) of being half of the first sibling pair ever drafted in the first round of two different sports.

The asterisk: the hamstring followed him. It kept him out of athletic testing at the combine, and a strain, possibly a re-aggravation of the 2025 injury, limited him through OTAs and mandatory minicamp in June. He measured 6'2", 203 pounds, and put up 26 bench reps, but the NFL has still never clocked him.

What Changed Around Him

The Saints built him a runway. Kellen Moore enters year two as head coach, and second-year QB Tyler Shough is the unquestioned starter after taking over in Week 8 last season and completing 68% of his passes the rest of the way, sixth in the league over that stretch, per Hribar's April 24 breakdown, at 7.3 yards per attempt.

The receiver room is Chris Olave and then daylight. Jim Derry of Saints On SI wrote on May 4 that only Olave and Devaughn Vele are roster locks, with Ja'Lynn Polk (acquired from New England for a sixth-rounder, 12 career catches), Trey Palmer, and Bub Means fighting for scraps behind them. Day-three rookies Bryce Lance and Barion Brown project as depth and return help. New Orleans also added Travis Etienne to the backfield and David Edwards to the line. No team drafts a receiver 8th overall to ease him in, the WR2 job opposite Olave is his the day he's healthy.

What They're Saying

The June signal was all about workload management, not ability. Saints beat reporter Matthew Paras relayed on June 16 that Moore planned to hold Tyson (and DT Christen Miller) to the same limited workload at mandatory minicamp that they carried through OTAs, the team is protecting September availability, not rehabbing a setback. Mark Morales-Smith of SI wrote the same day that there's no current reason to believe the injury threatens Week 1.

The analyst read on his game is consistent: Hribar charted him at 3.02 yards per route run against man coverage with a 37.5% slot rate, while Adam Nardelli of Pitcher List (April 9) called him a polished separator whose main technical question is beating physical press, and whose main question, period, is durability. Nova's 187-point median already prices exactly this shape: elite per-route profile, discounted for games played.

The Buzz

The fantasy crowd is warm but hedged. Gray Deyo of SI listed him June 19 as an ADP riser at ESPN's WR36, arguing he "could rise above his ADP right away" given how empty the depth chart is behind Olave. Sleeper lists keep including him; nobody is pounding the table. That hesitation is the opportunity, the crowd is waiting for a camp video of him running full speed, and by the time it arrives, the discount is gone.

Swing Factors

• Hamstring status in camp (±60 pts): the gap between "full go in August" and "hamstrings all year" is essentially the gap between Nova's median and its floor.
• Shough's year-two step (±30 pts): a 68% completion rate over half a season is encouraging, not proven; Tyson's ceiling needs it to be real.
• Target competition (±20 pts): Olave is established and Juwan Johnson works the middle, but no other Saint threatens 100 targets. If Polk or Vele surprises, Tyson's rookie share shrinks.
• Press-coverage adjustment (−15 pts): the one on-film weakness scouts agree on; NFL corners will test it in September.

If Everything Goes Right / If Everything Goes Wrong

If everything goes right: the hamstring is a June memory, he opens as the every-down WR2, and Shough feeds the best separator on the roster the way second-year QBs feed easy wins. He pushes toward the 427-point ceiling of Nova's distribution and finishes inside the WR13 end of the projected range. Nova gives the tier-1 season 25%, one in four, for a player priced in round seven.

If everything goes wrong: the hamstring that ended 2025 and shadowed the entire offseason keeps grabbing, he plays six games in pieces, and the season drains toward the 9-point floor and the WR122 tail. You don't need to imagine it, it's the story of two of his four college seasons. That's why 63% of sims land below tier 2, and why he's Tier 6 despite top-10 capital.

Nova's Edge

The edge is the gap itself: Nova 61, market 85.5, published as +27 on the player page. The room is treating Tyson like a lottery ticket; the model is treating him like a starter with an injury discount already baked into a 187-point median. Note what we can't triangulate yet, tracked market hasn't posted season futures for him in our feed, so there's no market leg on this one. When his receiving-yards prop posts, measure it against that 187-point budget; if the line implies fewer than ~800 yards, the model and the book will be in open disagreement, and that's your confirmation to buy.

The Bottom Line

At ADP 157.7 (round 7 in 12-team leagues), Tyson is a value, Nova's rank says he belongs in the round-5/6 conversation, so taking him a full round ahead of ADP still beats the model's price. He's a WR3/flex with a 37% shot at returning WR2-or-better value, best drafted as your fourth receiver, not your second. If the hamstring costs him August practice time, freeze at ADP; don't chase past pick 60 regardless. Format note: the profile plays the same in PPR and half, the bet is capital and vacancy, not target type.

The gradeable claim: drafted at his current ADP, Tyson out-scores at least half of the receivers being drafted in rounds 5 and 6 this season, and Nova's 25% tier-1 odds are the highest you can buy after pick 80.
